Definition
CB and RB - A
"building contractor" means a contractor whose services are limited to
the construction of commercial buildings and single-dwelling or
multiple-dwelling residential buildings. These buildings cannot exceed
three stories in height. A building contractor may also construct the
"accessory use structures" in connection with these buildings. An
accessory use structure would be a garage, guest house, garden shed,
or other outbuilding. A building contractor is also a contractor whose
services are limited to remodeling, repair, or improvement of any size
building - if the services do not affect the structural elements of
the building.
Experience Needed to
Apply
BUILDING CONTRACTOR:
4 year
construction-related degree from an accredited college (equivalent to
3 years experience) and 1 year proven experience applicable to the
category for which you are applying, or
4 years proven
experience as a workman or foreman of which at least one year must
have been as a foreman, or
2 years proven
experience as a workman, 1 year proven experience as a foreman, and 1
year of credits for any accredited college level courses, or
1 year proven
experience as a workman, 1 year proven experience as a foreman, and 2
years of credits for any accredited college level courses.
And,
At least one year of *STRUCTURALLY-RELATED
experience in commercial, industrial or multiple dwelling
residential construction.
*STRUCTURALLY-RELATED
experience is defined as experience in four or more of the
following areas:
Site-work,
excavation, footings, piles and pile caps, laying concrete slabs/decks,
masonry walls, trusses, wood
framing, reinforcement bar, steel erection, column erection
and form-work.
