BECOMING A LEED ACCREDITED PROFESSIONAL A LEEDS Accredited Professional is a person who has taken and passed the LEEDS test thereby certifying that they have the knowledge necessary to build to Green Building Standards. This is important since it is Florida Law that all government buildings ( e.g. courthouses) or government financed construction (e.g. Schools) will need to meet an acceptable set of Green Building Standards such as the ones set by the United States Green Building Council ( USGBC). LEEDS is the standard set by the USGBC. This is important to you because if you would like to bid on any of these projects, you will need to prove your knowledge of Green Buildings in order to proceed. The LEEDS certification is that proof. Also, more and more non government entities are building green and will most likely want to hire a LEEDS qualified person. URGENCY- The LEEDS test is currently a 2-hour test. After March 31, 2009, it will become a 6-hour test. You want to take this test as soon as possible. Also, there is currently one LEEDS test. In the future, the test may be split into different levels of certification such as Commercial and Residential. Currently, you only need 1 certification, in the future you may have to take 2 or more test to cover all types of construction. TESTING- Many people are asking how often the test is given. The answer is simply, everyday except for Sunday. So yes, you can take our class on any Saturday and Sunday, and take the test on the Subsequent Monday or Tuesday. The test is currently $400 and is given by a company named Prometrics. They many labs in the South Florida area as well as throughout the whole State of Florida.
